Sean and I found this warped, twisted, gnarly looking rootball from a Birch tree in a little swampty area of our hike. The logs we found in that little swampy area just didn't seem to belong where they were. Someone must have moved them there. (Likely during trail maintenance)
This is the same piece of wood as the larger Birch Bowl.
Much like the other birch bowl, the dark clusters throughout this bowl are bark inclusions, and the thinner black lines are spalting. The holes were created by worms and other critters. It is yet another absolutely incredible piece.
