The mesquite this bowl comes from was rescued from a burnpile. Sean had gone to a lumber yard looking for something specific, but when he couldn't find anything to meet his needs, the owner said they had a burn pile out back, and offered for him to look through that. He drove away with several logs and boards he rescued from destruction.
This gorgeous piece was made from one of the worm-eaten boards that had been written off for burning. The coloring is unbelievable. I use another dish from the same board for my own coin spins.
