Sean and I went for a hike at a park nearby this past winter and had to pass through a small bog. There were several discarded logs in the swampy mess. He made quite a few mile-long treks through the forest to recover as many as he could. They had been left behind to rot. (Not on his watch!)
The piece itself has beautiful light-colored spalting throughout, from the fungus that had begun working it's way through it. The grain itself is dramatic and sweeping, like the bow of a ship. The natural edge lends fluidity and movement to the piece.
3.5" wide 1.9" tall (Averaging, between the highest and lowest edge)
