This little hemlock dish is made from a giant root ball rescued from a burn pile. We were passing a nearby campsite on our way home after a hike, and my partner noticed the branch sticking out from under a mound of firewood. He couldn't help himself and stole it! An act of love.
The texture of this wood has almost a velvety feel. Once you get your hands on it, really spend some time with it. It's just beautiful.
Much like a similar bowl in our collection, take a moment to spin this piece around in the light and watch for the shimmer. It's gorgeous, and it looks like ripples under the surface.
They are naturally UV reactive and glow a pale green throughout the grain under a blacklight.
Not to be confused with Poison Hemlock, a small bush resembling Yarrow, Western Hemlock is a tree, and perfectly safe to handle.
***Please note the second and third photos are the most accurate for color. It's a warmer tone, but the camera has a hard time picking it up.
