Sean and I found this warped, twisted, gnarly looking rootball from a Birch tree in a little swampy area of our hike. The logs we found in that little swampy area just didn't seem to belong where they were. Someone must have moved them there. (Likely during trail maintenance)
The twisting dark lines and grooves in this piece are wormholes, and the dark around the rim is bark. It is not glued together. This is one consecutive piece of wood. The holes throughout are worm eaten.
This is one of my favorite pieces he has ever made.
