The holes you see that are filled in are naturaly occuring, the insides are worm-digested wood fibers. (That means poop!)
The log this piece was made from was recovered from a friend's neighbor's back yard. They gave it to my partner because they knew he'd use it for something good. It sat untouched for several years, waiting to see what it would be.
Persimmon trees are associated with protection, healing, luck and love. As a child, my father taught me to use a persimmon seed to predict the winter.
